I haven't felt the urge to blog lately, but I'm happy my WIP is coming along nicely. I've three chapters in two weeks to go. Right now, my meter reading is at:

Wish me luck.

My Kenyan WIP

Whoa, I just realized I gave myself until end of summer, end of August to be precise, to finish my present WIP. Here's the reading:

I think I have either four chapters to go (at 16 pages a chapter or shorter chapters and an epilogue)...sigh. It's ben fun writing this one, remembering things I hadn't thought about in over seventeen years...since I got married.

But throughout the process, talking to my niece and former high school friends, I realized all women want the same thing, a man who loves and respects them. Though this book is based in Kenya and have Kenyan characters (the man is raised and educated in America), the setting, the traditions and societal quirks add to the richness of the romance. It's been one heck of a ride (still is since I'm not yet done.)

ATLANTA TRIP Part 2:
Anyway, for the rest of Atlanta trip. We visited Martin Luther King Center with its info boards and videos.

All I can say is that America has come far. Very far.

Outside the center are the statues of Gandhi and the character from Roots, Kunta Kinte holding his baby...see below.

The MLK memorial looked really nice:

the walkway and the water fountain are to the right and below is where MLKand CSK rest.

And the eternal flame sits opposite the musoleum:

It was nice to see the Centennial Park,

Titanic Aquarium, it's huge, and Coca Cola Headquarters is right by it.

I'd definitely go back to visit and take the kids. Oh, and the food at the resort and Old Station Mall was to die for. I swear I added pounds, which I'm working hard to shed now that I'm back.

Atlanta trip part 1

Atlanta the beautiful!!

I’m back, after a much needed break and most enjoying trip. It was wonderful to see Denise at the airport. That she took the time to come welcome me and keep me company while I waited for my niece was so gracious. And that’s what she is, lovely and gracious. Love you, woman. Hope your friend’s book party is a hit.
I’d heard about Southern hospitality and never experienced it until I went to Georgia. I mean, we’ve had family reunion in Hilton Head and Alabama, but I don’t recall the people being so polite and friendly, including drivers. My niece brought her GPS system, which helped us a lot. Otherwise we would have been lost numerous times.

Our little cottage

that's me on the left, my niece on the right and the old Barnsley home in the background.

Barnsley has rich and an amazing history and was quite famous during the day. The old house was the first house in the south, or was it in the entire US, to have indoor plumbing. The museum even had the family tree with pictures of all those considered family, including a slave whom they called Uncle Ned.

That's the Rice House, a place for formal dinners for the guests.

The gardens, designed in British style, are beautiful and maintained by a lovely girl (half Cherokee half Irish and a practicing Wiccan…never met one before).

Most of the time, we stayed within the resort. We didn’t go canoeing (unaccompanied? I didn’t think so) or horseback riding (at $80 per hour, heck no!) but used the spa (wonderful experience), walked around a lot (lovely trails and the place is huge), used the gym religiously and even watched a little golf. From Wednesday through Saturday, the resort hosted Georgia Open.

Did I do any writing? Some, not enough. But I did the love scene, which usually takes me a week or two. I mainly read books, talked with my niece and just rested. I’ll post more about our site-seeing trip to Atlanta, which was the highlight of the entire trip.
