What's on my bedside table?

Okay, so I've a stack of books I've been meaning to read, like, forever, but couldn't because I've a crazy-bad schedule. With the school closed, Dh and I took the kids to Salt Lake City for the usual circuit of museums and what-nots. The weather sucked and we had to drive to different cities to an aquarium, dino museum--did I mention it's the largest in the world?- and an indoor playland. But it was worth seeing the faces of my little munchkins light up. Me? I have blisters from all the standing and walking.

Still, I got the chance to start Love Eternal, by J.R. Ward. My friend Chicki has been telling me to start on the series. I read Wrath's story, the first book, liked it okay enough. Then started on the second book and I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down. Had to stay in the bathroom reading so as not to disturb the sleepers. Yeah, yeah, I was in a hotel suite but all the rooms were taken , so bathroom it was. WOW! That's all I can say. Now on to book three.

On young adult, I finished City of Bones, which is a little too similar to my book for my liking. In fact, my heart dropped when I started reading it (my daughter got it from the library after she read my story and wanted to check it out) but after a while, I realized, nah, other than the fact that my heroes and sheroes are demon hunters and children of the Nephilim, not much was similar. Although I was sure when I wrote KRIS DAGGER that the children of the Nephilim/demon hunters was my baby, an original creation by moi. Go figure! I tell you, there are no new ideas out there.

Anyhew, kiddos are back to school tomorrow and I need to check their backpacks one last time. Happy reading whatever is on your bedside.
