Dance Re-vue

Saturday was my four-year old daughter's dance revue, and the theme, Disco Dance Party, took me back to the eighties with a veagence. Head bands, hair tied up Olivia Newton-John style, legwarmers, and disco lights in the finale, it was a sight to behold. Dancing to songs like "Turn the beat around", Twist 'n Shout", "Celebration", "Hot Hot Hot", those preschoolers and kindergarteners were totally amazing. And so adorable.

As for my old self, listening to "Celebration" took me back to when I had a crush on J.T. Taylor, lead singer of Kool and the Gang. When we got home, I'd meant to blog the event but instead sat my girls (dh and ds had gone to a football game...ds always complains that the revues are so booooring, so we let him off the hook this one time)...oh, where was I?? Oh, we got home and I planted my four girls in front of the computer and we watched song after song by Kool and the Gang on Youtube (with my 14 year old rolling her eyes). Thank you Youtube. Funny though, I memorized most of these songs when I was growing up, but this was the first time I watched them sing. What a treat.

I had a fun weekend, though didn't do much writing.

Hope your week is fabulous.

HERE'S TO MOTHERS

Sorry I've been gone for weeks, but I couldn't miss wishing all of you a very Happy Mother's Day. Hope you got to rest or got pampered even if for just an hour, half the day. I've had a relaxing day although a mother's work is never done when you have children. No matter what their ages are, they're still demanding. Still that early morning "Happy Mother's Day, mommy," scream in your ear at six or a sloppery kiss, or an artwork that she/he worked on so hard the last few weeks is so worth it. Anyway, here's to motherhood. Have a happy one.
