I'm Baack...what a summer

The summer has zipped past so fast I'm still trying to catch my breath, and at the same time holding it. You may wonder why. The beginning of the next school year is just around the corner...YIPEE. Yeah, yeah, I know, I should be flogged for looking forward to a few hours of peace a day but dang it, I had to put my writing on hold these last two months . And yes, I love the little munchkins dearly and know I only have them for a short period, but I need a freaking break from all the summer activities. Luckily, all that running around made me lose weight and I had fun when I wasn't losing it. Anyway, I'm back, will be reading blogs and writing, posting, and critiquing.

This past week and a few days, we had a family reunion.

I love watching my kids play with their cousins, bonding, part of a tradition we've kept for years and hope they'll continue it once we've passed on.

We usually met in Myrtle Beach S. Carolina...beautiful beaches, wonderful dinners/entertainment at Medieval Knights or Dixie Stampede.

This year was different. We went to Idaho, to my-in-laws summer retreat. We were all convinced we'd be bored...you know, no beach, no entertainment, nothing...boy did they prove us wrong. Their house is just outside Sandpoint, East Hope, the property right on the edge of Lake Pend Oreille. The weather was perfect, the sunsets beautiful , expansive lake view. The kids spend so much time swimming, kayaking, water skiing, tubing, and building sand castles. They have a huge sandpit though, nothing to do with the lake.

One of these islands is a santuary for eagles. I didn't visit this marina but ran past it every morning when we went jogging...it's a real paradise. The people are so nice. Time went fast and I wasn't surprised when my kids asked if we could go back next year. Next time, I'll try to convince DH to drive us there...nine hours from our valley with an overnight stop in Yellowstone.

Well, it's good to be back blogging.
